Our Story

Our first gnomes were painted during the World Cup 2018 when we started painting England team heroes including captain Harry Kane, manager Gareth Southgate and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Since then, the gnomes have come on a long way. We created an entire team of footballers and when we started to run out of footballers we wanted to paint, we began painting personalised gnomes as gifts for friends and started taking special requests. We discovered the gnomes make people really happy!

At the same time, Katy’s older sister Charlotte moved back home to the Cotswolds and started a gnome Instagram account to showcase the gnomes adventures. See gnomeshq and gnometeamlions!

Then disaster struck! When the gnomeavirus pandemic hit, our gnome supply disappeared and we could no longer buy the blank gnomes to paint. We thought our gnome days were over and Katy was devastated! But we made it our mission to do something about it and after hours of online research and experimenting, we have learnt how to individually hand make our very own gnomemade gnomes, which we think are even better than the originals! Even Katy’s dad, Andy, joined the rest of the Gnomes HQ team taking over the roles of Head of Gnome Production, Chief Gnome Fettler and Gnome Quality Control Inspector.

We decided to start selling our gnomes in July 2020, after receiving lots of requests from our friends and followers on Instagram. They are a labour of love and we spend hours meticulously ensuring every detail is perfect, because nothing makes us happier than when someone loves their gnome as much as we do.
